DRCT Current is an exploration of creative possibilities, made possible by Fab Lab Chch and The Christchurch City Council.
The aim of DRCT Current is to educate artists with technological skills, that they can then marry into their art practice to experiment with various processes and outcomes.
Our Approach
1. Workshop series
Local artist are invited to attend the series of workshops that build their understanding and skills on an new area of technology once a week, for six weeks.
2. Materials Grant
Upon workshop completion, the participants of DRCT Current workshops will have the opportunity to submit a creative concept for prototyping. Projects will be independently selected by a panel to receive a materials grant.
3. Resources
The leanings from the projects are documented by the artist's on the project website: drctcurrent.co.nz
4. Support
Technical support, access to kit and equipment, a weekly meeting and prototyping space will also be provided by Fab Lab Chch.
5. Showcase
All projects will be shown in an exhibition upon concluding the workshops.
